Sunday School

This upcoming 2018-2019 school year, our Sunday School children will spend the first three weeks of the year learning about Holy Communion. They will then be able to participate in our celebration of World Communion Sunday, October 7th, during Worship.
During the fall and winter months, Our weekly classes will be structured around teaching the children about the Fruit of the Spirit, which is a Biblical term that summarizes the nine attributes of a person living in faith-filled relationship with God.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV)
By the end of this 13-week study, the children will have a better understanding of what it means to be a person of good character.

In between these lessons, the children will also have opportunity to participate in monthly Outreach Sundays; an activity to honor our veterans for Veterans Day; a Christmas Party and a Christmas Pageant, held during our Christmas Eve family worship service.
The second half of our year, students will learn about the Armor of God. This is a Biblical reference that uses the metaphor of battle armor to explain the aspects of a Christian’s belief in God.
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” Ephesians 6:13-17 (ESV)

By the conclusion of this second, 13-week study, students will have tools of faith to help them cope with challenges they may face in their lives.
Around these lessons, our Sunday School children will continue to participate in Outreach Sundays, as well as an Easter Story performance and Children’s Day worship service to showcase all they have learned during our Sunday School year.
