Outreach

The Outreach Team is responsible for the wider mission of the church.  They examine the mission work of the UCC and other agencies serving our community, nation, and world, and determine the church’s response to and encourage participation in selected mission programs.

Thank-you!

Every year the members of the Original Congregational Church collect a gathering of “the harvest” to help those who are less fortunate than we are.  In current economic times many are struggling to support their families.  This is one way we are able to give back a portion of what we have to helping others. This year Ingathering took place on Sunday, November 20th.  We want to send everyone a special thank-you to all who helped collect the amazing amount of food.  Without all the love and support that everyone gives, our programs wouldn’t be as strong as they are!

This year Outreach once again chose the Breakfast Program, created by the Attleboro Area Council of Churches, as our Ingathering recipients. We have supported the Wednesday Evening Food ‘N Friends meal for several years, and wanted again to also support this important program.  They provide breakfasts to children, the elderly and those not able to get out to shop for themselves. This program assists those we don’t often see out at the evening meal.

The Attleboro Area Council of Churches began a Breakfast Program for families and individuals in the Attleboro area in 2006.  The program is funded in part through a Community Investment Grant from the United Way of Greater Attleboro/ Taunton, but needs community contributions and donations to continue to provide a healthy meal to start each day for many families, the elderly and shut-ins.

The Breakfast Program began with 15 people and has grown to currently serve almost 150 people. With economic uncertainty continuing, the number of those helped by this program is expected to grow into the next year.
