Worship at The Original Congregational Church

We recognize that in a large, thriving, and diverse community one worship experience will not fit all. However we worship, we work to understand that worship is not what our lives as Christians are "about", but the celebration of days and weeks spent in service and Christian missional activity. Worship at OCC is a celebration, and one piece of a whole life lived in Christian community.

Traditional Worship, Sunday Morning, 10:00 AM
We celebrate our historic New England roots. In this weekly worship gathering we employ the forms of worship that have been used for centuries by our forebears: favorite hymns, a traditional liturgy, stimulating sermons, and our beloved choral anthems. This service is typically 1 hour and is usually followed by a time of coffee and fellowship.

The service of worship is on Sundays at 10:00 a.m., September through May. Throughout the regular year, there is an Adult Bible Study offered at 8:30 AM on Sunday mornings. During the summer months of July and August, the worship service begins at 9:30 a.m.

Our Sunday school offers classes for children age 3 through high school at 10:00 a.m., September through June. Nursery care is available year-round for infants and toddlers through age 3.

Communion is the first Sunday of every month. Our Communion table is open to all people regardless of church or denominational affiliation. Children in grades 4th and up participate in worship on Communion Sundays; the third graders join the congregation for Communion beginning every March.

Baptisms are scheduled periodically throught the year for those interested, as well as opportunities for new members to join.

Throughout the year, we provide a variety of special worship experiences including special music ranging from major works presented by the Senior Choir to more contemporary songs led by the Chapel Singers to Jazz Sunday. Guest preachers and lay-led services help to broaden our view of the meaning of God in our lives. We offer special services on Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and on Christmas Eve.
