Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals
In the United Church of Christ people are baptized either as children or adults. Baptism with water and the Holy Spirit is the mark of their acceptance into the care of Christ’s church, the sign and seal of their participation in God’s forgiveness, and the beginning of their new growth into full Christian faith and life. When an infant or young child is baptized, one or both parents and/or one or more sponsors promise to assume certain responsibilities for the Christian nurture of the baptized child.
Weddings at the OCC emphasize the blessing of God and the unique story of each couple’s coming together. Pastor Ken works closely with each couple to prepare them for their special day. The ceremony is both prayerful and personal. The service is in the New England congregational tradition and is offered in an ecumenical spirit that all our couples have appreciated with their loved ones and guests coming from many different traditions. All are welcome here. Our 1834 New England town church is a perfect setting for a fairytale photo and we will even ring the bell on your way out the front steps to your new life! Many folks enjoy a wedding ceremony here as we may easily accommodate over 300 guests or host small weddings with an intimate feeling. Several food establishments nearby that host receptions also make Wrentham Centre a fine location for a church wedding. If you are interested in seeing the wedding service that we offer, please contact us here at the OCC at anytime. We look forward to meeting you and helping you with your wedding plans!
We would be honored to hold the service in remembrance of your loved one, and we look forward to assisting you in planning the service. We hope you will find comfort and support in this place of worship.
