“We will provide a safe and nurturing environment where all people can grow in their spiritual journey, both as individuals and as part of our Christian faith community.”

The Education Ministry Team maintains the Education programs for the church.  We manage nursery care for infants to 3 year olds, Sunday School for preschool through adult classes, Youth groups, Confirmation Class and any additional educational programs.

The Sunday School program runs during our regular worship time and Adult Sunday school is available Sunday mornings prior to Worship. We submit CORI checks on all of our adults who have contact with the children and youth every 3 years.

The EMT team chooses a mission project for the students yearly.  We have continued to support “The Home for Little Wanderers” for our mission project this year.

What We Teach

Children in preschool are using Gospel Light Sunday School Curriculum

Children ages 1st through 7th grade are using a curriculum from a company called SparkHouse.

“Holy Moly”, Grades 1-3: Every Holy Moly lesson follows a four-part sequence: Discover, Relate, Connect, and Create. Each week, kids watch an animated Bible story video, talk about the story, read their Bible Storybook or Bible, and try a creative leaflet activity.

“Connect”, Grades 4 and 5: Every Connect lesson follows a three-part sequence: See, Explore, and Make. Each week, tweens focus on and reinforce a theme by watching a witty video, exploring biblical text, and creating projects that range from games to art and more.

“Echo the Story”, Grades 6 and 7: Echo the Story 36 is a 36-session overview of the Bible for youth. Students experience the fullness of the biblical narrative in 36 sessions that use storytelling, creative reflection, and dialogue.

What Else Are We About?

We celebrate significant passages of spiritual development of our children and youth:

  • Second graders receive Bibles
  • 4th graders have the opportunity to become Acolytes
  • Communion education with age appropriate lessons – They learn the significance of God’s covenant with us, and different ways we celebrate the Eucharist.
  • Confirmation class for grades 8 and 9 with Confirmation in May – This class has study time with the Pastor, discusses components of the worship and service to this church and the community.
  • Youth/Children’s Day worship service in late spring

EMT Needs

New Members:  The Education Ministry Team meets once a month to collaborate on new ideas and plan on how to implement them.  Each team member brings their talents and God gifts to preparing a meaningful Christian education experience to our children.

We are also always looking for volunteers to help out in the classrooms.  Volunteers are needed to serve as teachers and classroom helpers.  These positions only require helping out a few weeks a month. Carey Damon provides the curriculum and supplies needed for the lessons, so it does not require a lot of preparation time.  The rewards from teaching are immense as you see the children grow in their faith.
